Rienzie T. Wijetilleke
Chairman, Hatton National Bank
Rienzie Wijetilleke has been the Chairman of Hatton National Bank PLC, Sri Lanka since March 2004. Prior to this he was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer from July 1988 to December 2004. Rienzie has had wide experience in the local and international banking sector for over 48 years, 20 of which have been at HNB. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers United Kingdom, FCIB (UK), Fellow of the Institute of Bankers Sri Lanka, FIB (SL) and Companion of the Chartered Management Institute, UK.
Directorships in other companies include Chairman of HNB Assurance PLC, HNB Stockbrokers (Pvt.) Ltd, HNB Securities Ltd, Sithma Development (Private) Ltd and Sunshine Holdings PLC. Rienzie is also the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Leighton Park International School, Colombo, the President of the United Nations Association of Sri Lanka. He is also a Director of Nawaloka Hospitals PLC and Ceylon Biscuits Ltd and immediate Past President of the National Stroke Association of Sri Lanka and a former Director and Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange. |

Devinda Subasinghe
Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to United States
Devinda R. Subasinghe was Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the United States and Mexico and Permanent Observer to the Organization of American States (OAS), from October 2002 until March 2005. His previous professional expertise and experience includes development economics and investment banking. He was a Vice President of Florida-based Raymond James Financial Inc. His 25-year international career has included an advisory capacity to Presidents and Prime Ministers of Sri Lanka (1977-Present) on international economic development and financial issues and US-South Asia policy.
As an advisor to the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation, Devinda has 11 years’ experience in advising on issues including economic reform and restructuring and private sector development. He has also advised the U.S. Government on foreign policy and economic development issues and market investments, from 1995 to 1999. He was the founder and CEO of Asia Insight 21, specializing in consulting governments and corporations on trade and investment.
Devinda is the President of Bridging Nations, an organization promoting US-India-China relationships. He is also an active member of the Marshall Legacy Institute fundraising committee, an organization active in mine clearing and education. |

Chandra Jayaratne
Former Chairman, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce
Chandra Jayaratne is the Managing Director of Eagle Insurance PLC and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management of Management Accountants, UK. He is a past Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and LMD Sri Lankan of the Year 2001. A respected accountant and business leader, Chandra is a social worker in Sri Lanka and a professional volunteer for the Sarvodaya Sharamadana Movement of Sri Lanka and an Eisenhower Fellow – MNP 1989 Sri Lanka. |

Mr. Kushil Gunasekera
Founder, Foundation of Goodness
Kushil Gunesekera has headed a sugar trading business since 1994. He is the Founder of the Foundation of Goodness and Managing Trustee of the Ranaviru Doo Daru Rekavaranaya. He is also the Manager of Muttiah Muralitharan, the highest wicket taker in the history of both test and limited over cricket. Kushil was also the Secretary of the first Under 19 Cricket World Cup Tournament 2000 in Sri Lanka. He was the Secretary of the Interim Committee and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka, from 1999 – 2002.
Kushil has received several awards in recognition of his humanitarian services including the Best Club, President and Community Service Director Awards from Rotary International, Sri Lanka, 1990/91 and in 1993, he was one of those who were awarded the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award (TOYP) for voluntary humanitarian service by Jaycees International in 1993. In July 2005, he received the Rotary Centennial Award for Professional Excellence from the President of RI, Glenn Estess.
After the tsunami catastrophe of 2004, he started creating a village model in coastal Seenigama in south west Sri Lanka. In this reincarnation, he empowered local communities in 25 villages in the region, providing better opportunities for 20,000 underprivileged beneficiaries. In 2005, he and two other Rotarians toured the Jaffna region at the invitation of the Jaffna Rotary Club during the time of LTTE control.
Kushil’s work in disaster relief has taken him all over the world, including Buckingham Palace, the US Pentagon and Federal Emergency Management Agency and USAID. He has been invited to speak at conferences on empowerment of rural children and youth in disadvantaged communities all over the world. In Australia, the Victorian State Government Premier, the Hon. Steve Bracks invited Kushil as his special guest at the Australian Open Tennis Finals, 2007, in recognition of his commitment to rebuild a village and constructing 1000 houses for tsunami victims. |

Dr. Harsha Alles
Director, Gateway College
Dr. Harsha Alles is a Director of the Gateway Group of Organizations. Established in 1986, Gateway has considerable experience in training and assessment that meets international standards. The organization has produced educational programs endorsed by leading training providers in the UK, some of which are currently being used in other countries. In Sri Lanka, Gateway has one of the largest branch networks with 33 centers spread across the country and a global student population in excess of 50,000.
A medical doctor by profession, Harsha has lectured at the medical faculty of the University of Colombo before heading Gateway. He has won two “Young Scientist Scholarship” awards. In 2000, he received “The Outstanding Young Person of the Year” Award for the contribution he made towards the IT education of children. In 2003 he was adjudged the Gold Winner of the CIMA Pinnacle Awards as the “Outstanding Businessman of the Year”. Harsha is also the local business partner for ICDL in Sri Lanka and serves as a Managing Consultant for NCC Education UK. He is a member of the ICT Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Education. |

Hon. Ameer Ismail
Chairman, Office of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption
Justice Ameer Ismail was appointed the Chairman of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption in March 2005. He is to serve in this capacity for a period of five years. Justice Ismail has previously served as a Judge of the Court of Appeal and as its President when he rose to the Supreme Court in 1999. During his tenure of office he also served as a member of the Judicial Service Commission and as a member of Council of Legal Education. He retired as a Judge of the Supreme Court in February 2004. |

Dr. (Mrs) Hiranthi Wijemanne
Dr Hiranthi Wijemanne graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Colombo University and holds a Master of Public Health Degree from the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, USA. She is a Fellow of the College of Community Physicians, Sri Lanka. Currently, she advises the National Child Protection Authority and the Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Empowerment, the Office of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation and the Sri Lanka Peace Secretariat on child related issues. She has consulted to the ILO on child labour, UNODC on adolescents and substance abuse, UNFPA on reproductive health and the UNICEF on assessing child abuse and exploitation.
Working for UNICEF in Colombo for 26 years, she was responsible for the planning and implementation of a wide range of UNICEF funded programmes relating to mostly children and women’s issues. She is currently the Chairperson of the NEHA Trust Fund for Tsunami Affected Children and was closely associated with developing and planning protection activities for them. In addition, she is the Chairperson of the Health Policy Research Institute, a member of the OLPC Advisory Board of the Education Ministry and a Trustee of the OLPC Foundation, and a member of the board of Diri Piyasa, an organisation helping victims of gender based violence.

He is a former Chairman of the Bank of Ceylon and the Public Enterprise Reform Commission.
